3.  ஜனங்களோ: நீர் புறப்படவேண்டாம்; நாங்கள் முறிந்தோடிப்போனாலும், அவர்கள் எங்கள் காரியத்தை ஒருபொருட்டாக எண்ணமாட்டார்கள்; எங்களில் பாதிப்பேர் செத்துப்போனாலும், எங்கள் காரியத்தைப்பற்றிக் கவலைப்படமாட்டார்கள்; நீரோ, எங்களில் பதினாயிரம்பேருக்குச் சரி; நீர் பட்டணத்தில் இருந்துகொண்டு, எங்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்கிறது எங்களுக்கு நலமாயிருக்கும் என்றார்கள்.

3.  But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succor us out of the city.
